I would be interested to hear what AFC Band most ANPs (masters level educated) are receiving within the UK. I know of people who are still only Band 6, and personally find this shocking. I have been a top 7 for around five years but feel I should now be allowed to progress through the band 8 banding as my clinical autonomy and knowledge matches that. Be interested to hear your comments, thanks in advance.

Hi Margaret, I agree 100%. I frequently see advertised posts having MSc as a pre-requisite (plus independent prescribing) but they do tend to be a Band 7. I would welcome more Band 8 posts and have heard they are more frequent in the South/London etc.

I have seen nurse practitioner band 5 posts in NHS Borders (Scotland). The job description was for a Practice Nurse though, very misleading and confusing, and does nothing for promoting our role. It really irritates me that anyone can use 'NP' title for jobs that do not involve diagnosis, prescribing and advanced decision-making.
